Civil War Museum in Republic Mo;
The Wilson's Creek Civil War
Museum (formerly the General
Sweeny Museum) contains an
outstanding collection of
artifacts relating to the war
west of the Mississippi,
including the sword belt and
sash of Arkansas Confederate
General Patrick Cleburne, the
telescope of abolitionist John
Brown, and the flag of the
Confederate "Cherokee Braves."

Wilson's Creek was the first
major Civil War battle
fought west of the Mississippi
River, and the scene of the
death of Nathaniel Lyon, the
first Union general killed in
combat. Although a Southern
victory, the Southerners failed
to capitalize on their success.
With the exception of the
vegetation, the field has
changed little and remains
in near pristine condition.
Famous place in the Missouri
Ozarks include is Laura Ingalls
Wilder home and museum in
Mansfield, Missouri.

Branson Mo is
also located in the southwest Missouri
Ozarks, 35 miles south of Springfield within
the heart of the Ozark Mountains.
Branson is home to 45
music theaters with seating for 75 to 4,000
people. Branson’s 56,228
theater seats are 12,000 more than on
Broadway in New York. The variety of music
includes country, pop, gospel, bluegrass,
western, rock n’ roll, classical jazz and

Meramec Caverns located in Stanton
Missouri, is the largest commercial
cave in the state of Missouri.
Missouri is also known as the Cave
state, hosting home to more than
6,000 surveyed caves. A GREAT
vacation stop.

Ozarks experiences four seasons, the winters are not long and severe
with only an average of about 7 1/2 inches of snow a year, while the
summers are hot and humid it does not last for days and days.

in central Missouri: Lake of the Ozarks, Harry S. Truman Lake, Table
Rock Lake near Branson, Stockton Lake, Pomme de Terre Lake, Lake Tanneycomo. You
can also find many smaller lakes around Springfield and southwest
Missouri.
